On Thursday, September 28th, Pluto stations direct in Capricorn. Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld. Pluto lives in your deepest places. And he sweeps them and dredges them as much as he can. Pluto moves very slowly through our charts—his transits through the signs represent entire generations.
Each year, Pluto retrogrades for about 5 months. Because of the relatively large amount of time and small amount of space that his retrogrades traverse, these periods can feel quite subtle … until the day he goes direct. And then? WAPS!
A retrograde is a review, a redo. Pluto represents both the shadow (personally and publicly) and the opportunity to overcome our shadows. What are your vices? What are your addictions? What are your greatest challenges? What are the things about yourself that you most want to change? What is it that you know you have to be in order to align what you preach with who you are? Pluto knows … and today, he is here to offer you a helping hand—even if that hand is leading you to an uncertain place. Sometimes, shadows, addictions, afflictions, and compulsions are so powerful because they are so familiar. Sometimes, we are truly attached to these things to which we cling. Other times, however, overcoming them is less about attachment and more about certainty and familiarity. If I keep doing the same thing, I know what the outcome is going to be, even if I don’t like that outcome.
This weekend is Yom Kippur—perhaps the holiest day in the Hebrew calendar … the Day of Atonement, repentance. And repentance, according to Rabbi Schmuly Yanklowitz, is being put in the same position and discerning a different decision. Pluto’s direct station can both emphasize this need and facilitate your fortitude quickly. I like to say that pirates are people who can shift huge amounts of energy quickly. Pluto’s light worker self engages in this type of positive piracy. What have you been doing lately or for a long time or for most of your life that’s no longer working— that’s desecrating your destiny? That’s right – desecrating. And more importantly, what are you going to do about it? Because, most likely, a lot of these things stem from deep roots—the kinds of deep roots that only Pluto is privy to.
This week, Pluto is asking the tough questions:
How many more days are you going to sit around waiting for that person who you haven’t talked to in months to call you?
How many more mornings in a row are you going to awake hung over and/or exhausted?
How many more afternoons are you going to the refrigerator instead of the gym?
How many more nights are you going to devote to doing someone else’s work for them?
How many more weeks are you going to allow inertia to keep you from making the decisions and moves that will actually make you happy?
How much longer will you allow fear to prevent you from doing the one thing you most need to do in order to feel free?
How many more unavailable people are you going to seek out or run after?
How many more potentially healthy relationships are you going to ruin because you refused to set healthy boundaries, communicate clearly, and/or take care of yourself?
How many beautiful connections are you going to let pass you by because you refused to be vulnerable or open to actually being committed to someone (even and especially if that someone is yourself!)?
How much longer are you going to wait to reach out for the support you need most—whether that’s a friend, a doctor/healer, a therapist/coach/counselor, a babysitter, and/or a sex worker? (everyone has different needs)
How many more lies are you going to tell yourself about why you can’t do everything you ever dreamed of?
How much longer are you going to allow yourself to play small so that you don’t have to endure the potential rejection and/or judgment of people who are jealous, don’t actually want to see you succeed, and/or want you to remain their perpetual partners in self-pity?
How much longer are you going to allow yourself to receive less than exactly what you’re worth in your relationships, in your career, in your friendships, in your art, and in every random interaction on the street?
Pluto … he’s tough, bey. But he’s not here to judge you. You can do whatever you want. But when you want change? Go to him … because as touch as he is, is is also the real deal. He is the MOST real … and when you’re finished with him? Your life can never ever be the same. And 10 times out of 10, if you surrender to his journey, you will be shocked by the beauty of your own creation. You can produce for yourself everything you want with a little push from Pluto’s broom (Pluto rules Scorpio and, yes, he’s a witch). He brings the deep clean. And he’s here to help you today … but only if you’re willing to participate in his process.
It’s your choice … what will YOU choose?
