Artists, Cauldrons & Going a Little Deeper Than You Want: A Reflection on the Full Moon in Taurus

Taurus Full Moon 2017

I don’t normally make these posts that personal. I’m an Aquarian. We don’t like to make things personal. We are very happy to be detached. And yet, this Moon wants to personalize. Full moons can be deep. This one feels especially deep. Perhaps it’s because the Sun is in Scorpio (the well). Perhaps it’s because the full moon is conjunct the deepest and most personal point in my chart–a piece of myself that’s invisible to most. Perhaps it’s because this Moon is trine Pluto (as he conjoins Mercury in my first house). Who knows? Who cares? I’ve learned not to question.

This Moon is a difficult moon, but a healing and abundant  moon. The moon loves Taurus. The moon is exalted in Taurus. Taurus is voluptuous, luscious, lush and virile. Taurus is sensuous and pleasures the body in all ways. Taurus moves slowly, but deliberately. When Taurus moves, it takes everything in its path. Have you ever had a bull charge at you? I have. You won’t win. You can’t win. You can tell Taurus energy in the eyes of a person. They won’t let you get away with anything. And you’ll like it.

Taurus, ruled by Venus, is the artist. And as is the case with many artists, people with strong Taurean energy love the body, love the human form. An artist/Taurean will measure your body with their hands to explore your proportions for fun. Scorpio energy, alternatively, will level your mental landscape in under an hour and flood your plains so that your desert, for once, might be fertile. The Taurus/Scorpio axis is deep understanding of the relationship between the body and the mind. There is no health of either without the health of both, without commitment to both.

Scorpio is the sign of death and transformation. Scorpio is a water sign. By definition, fluids take the shape of their container. Taurus is an Earth sign. Earth signs become the containers for fluids. When the death, pain and trauma encountered in Scorpio are poured into the cauldron of Taurus, they become art, music and poetry. Creativity can and does turn the ugliest things into the most beautiful things. When things get tough, when life seems just too much to bear, you can always return to art. You can always return to what is beautiful. And this Moon is wanting, desperately, to draw from you that which is ugly–the deepest, darkest and most painful parts of you–and give you beautiful sacred rest.

Allow yourself to rest. Enter the cauldron. Take enough time to feel the beams of this moon’s beauty to seep into the cracks of your existence, so that you may recover and regenerate something ancient within you–or, at least, something you haven’t felt in a really. Long. Time. It’s LIT! And if you relax enough to open your deepest and most sacred pathways, you will be lit too. This Moon wants you to know that you are worth so much more than you’ve ever imagined. Let it in.

Full Moon Blessings 🙏🏼
