The New Moon on Sunday in the sign of the Warrior is conjunct Uranus, who rules breaks, breakdowns and breakthroughs. Consider that Uranium is named after Uranus and you might have a better idea of the kind of energy we’re dealing with. The only difference between a breakdown and a breakthrough is the foreseen/predicted outcome. If you’re a ninja trying to break a board and you focus on the board, you will break your hand. If you focus beyond the board, you’ll break the board pain-free. If you play golf, baseball, tennis, softball, cricket – you know that you win by following through. Your game is in your follow-through.
In the realm of breaks, breakdowns and breakthroughs, your game is in your ability to imagine the other side of whatever is blocking you from getting from where you are to where you’re determined to go. But you must be determined to go. Perhaps this is why Aquarius (the sign ruled by Uranus) is known for/must have immense visionary capacity. Because like a nuclear reactor, Aquarius is always breaking shit, breaking out and breaking through. Your ability to break out of the prison you’re in—physically or emotionally—is blocked only by your inability to imagine that whatever is on the other side is way better than what’s on this side. But, as many people with strong Uranian/Aquarian energy know, sometimes vision-ary and fission-ary get confused. It’s been a powerful Mercury Retrograde and there could be some collateral damage.
Coming within 24 hrs of Mercury’s station direct in Aries, conjunct Uranus and loosely square (in a difficult relationship with) Mars and Pluto, this New Moon could feel intense – to say the least. As above, so below. As without, so within. It’s always possible that the intensity could be around you. But the intensity, the aggression, the anger, the breaking that is best focused upon, is that within you. And this Moon will break you open—not to hurt you, but to set you free. Because, at the end of the day, the point of all of that breaking … is always freedom.
Aries is the sign of the warrior. In Aries, there’s no middle ground. There are sides. And you have to pick one. If you don’t pick one, once will be chosen for you. During this Moon, there are two sides. There are those who haven’t done their work, who have been dilly-dallying, who have been living in blissful ignorance, who have created lives and realities that support and perpetuate their pains, their traumas and their delusions. If you’re in this camp, this Moon might seem like your own personal Book of Revelations because it will leave no truth uncovered. We are moving into a state of revolution (that’s what the Age of Aquarius is about, after all) and there is no time or space for lies, delusions or detachment from reality, so put your hardhats on and keep your seatbelts buckled, kids because this is the kind of energy that that tests how much work you’ve REALLY done. Don’t waste your time trying to pretend or float by on your niceties. It’s not going to work this time. You’ll just embarrass yourself.
On the other side of the ring, those who have really been doing their work, who have toiled and persevered, who have unpeeled their lives layer by layer, broken every single thing down (or conveniently had their whole lives broken down for them) and rebuilt something beautiful and resilient can get ready to par-tay. This New Moon will allow you to see successes that you haven’t noticed before. Maybe you’ve been so focused on what you’ve been doing, so focused on your own work, on reaching the promised land, that you didn’t notice that you’ve reached it. Stand up. Look around. Your life might not be perfect, but look at what you’ve managed to achieve, look at what you’ve created. The nature of your creations will be dependent upon where Aries falls in your chart. But most people will feel it, at least a little bit, in their identity, in their core. That is, the greatest thing you’ve created is yourself. And look here! Maybe you’re a little more badass than you thought you were! Give yourself credit. You’ve finally made it home … to you.
But to be clear … Just because these camps are on different sides doesn’t mean they’re fighting one another. Even though it takes little effort to see what seems like an awful lot of fighting, the real problems are internal. The revolution isn’t about good against bad. It isn’t about one guy against the other. It’s not me against you. It is about all of us facing the problems that are plaguing all of us, individually and collectively: fear, hatred, starvation (physical, emotional and spiritual), indifference, pain, trauma, disease, disconnection, powerlessness, oppression. As long as these things exist, we all carry them and we all perpetuate them—especially when we’re unwilling or unable to be honest with ourselves about where and how we carry them. The results on a test don’t indicate that you’re healthy—or not. The balance in your bank account is not the real measure of your abundance or poverty. Your caloric, even nutritional intake is not a determination of your fulfillment. Eliminate the problems in yourself and they will be eliminated from the world. But the only way to eliminate them is to believe in a world without them. That is, you must use your own unique raw power to envision a world filled with love, abundance, empowerment, freedom, passion, wellness, mystery, mysticism and deep connection.
With the Sun about to move into Taurus, this lunar cycle wants you to show the world what freedom tastes like, what passion smells like. What is the texture of mystery? What does abundance sound like? What is the shape and color of mysticism? What is the flavor of love? A better life and a better world are only blocked as much as your ability to imagine the thing on the other side that’s always better than the board that’s blocking your view. Don’t let the disruption in your view distract you from your ability to see. You’re never breaking, just breaking open. Every breakdown is a breakthrough … but you have to follow through.
New Moon Blessings,
